' It has been the' opinion of ' many, since the discovery of the natural . ization frauds in the Ninth District, that Dickinson. Democratic Con, greasman elect from that District, has been implicated in the matter, notwithstanding- the attempt made . to shift the responsibility upon the shoulders of Mc Ardlc, his clerk Last Monday it was decided that sufficient evidence had been obtain ed to justify the arrest of Dickinson, and he -was arrested while at Clove land. He asked a continuance of the case for the purpose of making pre parations.for defense, and was grant ed until the fourth day of November His hail was. fixed at' $3,000. : Mc Ardlc's. bond was also increased from $3,000 to 5,000. While we have no wish- to pre judge the case we must say that wc cannot under stand how these frauds could have taken place in Judge Dickinson's of- fice without his knowledge and con sent, to nse no harsher term And these are the men , who have been traducing , and villifying Wm II. Lee,, that Mr. Vallan digham and other leading Democrats of Ohio, New York, and Pennsylva nia, had arranged a plan by which risings and riotous meetings 6hould be inaugurated ou the Fourth of July in all the great Northern cities. A long list ot V ice l res- i dent b and Secretaries was then read, after which the following resolutions were adopted : " EeiolvcJ, That in our judgment, as War Democrats here assembled, the true interests of the country demand of every citizen at the coming elec tion an earnest inquiry as to whether the happiness and prosperity of the people of all classes will not be ma terially promoted by regarding the instincts of patriotic feehngs, instead of obeying the demands of mere par ty leaders, who seek their individual interests, instead of the common welfare of all. Reiolvcd, That in view of the delib erate declarations of one of the chief nominees of the Democratic National Convention, promising us discord if not revolution in the future, instead of harmony and peace, we should not, as citizens, be unmindful of the daDgcrou3 consequences which must ensue from placing our government under t!'e control of men thus reck less and revolutionary. And when, in addition, we are pre sented a platform whose principal feature is the repudiation of a na tional debt, incurred while our coun try was distracted by a rebellion, and j to the payment of which we nave de-; liberately pledged our honor as a na-; tion, we leel it to be our solemn duty to protest and , declare that we will have neither part nor lot in a polit ical party controlled by such men, and maintained for the accomplish ment of revolutionary and dishonest purposes. Retdoed, That the time-honored policy which guided the Democratic party in other and better days, stead ily and effectually inculcated princi ples of duty and Justice,, devotion to the Union, an unfaltering determina tion to uphold the Constitution and maintain the national faith and honor, we desire to preserve and perpetuate these principles,' and, therefore, we First That the plighted faith of the nation shall not be violated, , nor its name and credit disgraced. Third That we are unalterably opposed to the repudiating doctrines of the xscw lork platform, and spurn with indignation the revolutionary threats uttered by one of its candi dates. And final! y. Confidently believing that the peace, safety and prosperity of the wtiolc country will be insured, and the national honor preserved unsul lied, by the elevation of Gen. Ulys 8cs S.
