bulk in largo warehouses like hugo bun
dles of hay, and there it stays during tho
summer. Tho natural beat generated
suflices to do tho sweating. Sometimes
tho heat becomes so great that a pile is set
on tire by spontaneous combustion, though
this tloes not often occur. Tho tobaceo iu
packed stalk by stalk with tho leaf at
tached, each stalk and leaf being called a
'hand.'
"The resweating is done, I said bo
fore, to dry out tho ran kn ess, and tho

way in w hii h the desirable Maduro and

flay, it does not render tho tobacco
more strong. It is a popular fallacy that
a strong cigar must have a dark wrapper,
or that a dark wrapper indicates a strong
