BURGLARS AND BURGLARIES.
Another epidemic of burglary
seems to havo set in; three houses
have been entered, several others
attempted and in one case the de
fender of his own bouse is severely
wounded by a burglar armed with
a deadly weapon. For sundry rea
sons we arc not inclined to believe
that these crimes were committed
by natives or by permanent resi
dents of any complexion or na
tionality. They are "habitual
criminals " who finding their usual
haunts too hot for them, have come
down here for a change, and take
