The .same occurs if he is put in prison for getting drunk. It is the same way with me: You have no use for me here; it would be better to send me out of the country." He was given two years at hard labor instead. 3Iajor Wolters' Novelty. In this age of progression it is the novelties that count. The healthy, wealthy and wise enjoy alike the excellent brew, which is sold on draught at the Louvre. The Balloon Ascent. This afternoon Prof. James Price will make a balloon ascent at Re mond Grove. Trains will leave the O. R. & L. depot at 1 :45 and 3 p. m. The arrangements for the exhibi tion are complete and Prof. Price is assured of success. He stated last night that if he found the wind carrying him in the direc tion of the sea he would leave the balloon at a height that would assure his landing on terra firma. He is satisfied from the location, and arrange ments made that this will be one of the grandest ascents he has ever made. As to the dangers connect ed with the ascent, Prof. Price states that it depends entirely upon the knowledge the aeronaut has; he is considered the best in the world, and understands just what to do. Another ujaii baa been sentenced to be hauged in the penitentiary at Folsoni: Paulo Kamauuu, in the summer of 1S94, committed .one of the most fiendish crimes in the history of .LI Dorado county, a county noted for its many bloody crimes. He outraged an old woman named Ellen Robius.n and then to make sure that his in famous crime would never be known he killed her. But the crime of mur der was soon fastened upou him aud he was tried and convicted aud sea- fenced to death. . , Kmauuu nas been couhued m the Folsom Peniteniary for ome time past. This morning he was taken from thvre to P?acerville to listen to the fixing of the date of his execution. The Superior Court condemned him to die on the gallows ou the lutu uy of next April.
