The chief officer of the bark Snowdon is very ill. There are now seven of the White Rose sailors in the lockup. The bark Samoa is at the Oceanic wharf loading sugar for New York. The Kauai sailed for Makaweli j-es-terday afternoon with a load of coal. The bark Andrew Welch will not g?t away for San Francisco until next week. The bark Snowdon did not get away for New York yesterday. She will sail today. No report from Diamond Head last night owing to the telephone line be ing down. The Kinau will sail for Maui and Hawaii ports on Saturday morning, January 2d. The Iwalani is booked to leave for Lahaina, Honokaa and Kukuihaele at 9 a. m. today. The Iwalani arrived yesterday morn ing with 4,970 bags of sugar for F. A. Schaefer & Co. The schooner Aloha will sail for San Francisco with a load of sugar on New Year's Day. The Waialeale came in from Ilauai ports at about 4 p. m. yesterday with 3,071 bags of paddy. The sailmaker of the bark Oakbank, now on her way to New York with a cargo of sugar, has been arrested. The telephone in the Port Surveyor's office on the Oceanic wharf has been placed .on the outside, almost directly beneath the clock. It is probable that something will have to be built around it, as the noise on the wharf during discharging and loading of vessels will ir.ake enough noise to disturb the hear ing. , The boiler taken to Honokaa by the Iwalani on her last trip was returned yesterday. The weather was too rough to land it. W. Rfed has deserted from the U. S. S. Ak-rt. liis name has been post.-d at the police station and Harry Evans is after him. The S. G. Wilder will get away for San Francisco during the latter part of January. She is awaiting her turn to load sugar. The Iwalani brought news of the ar rival in Lahaina of the Mauna Loa about 6 p. m. Tuesday, when the wharf was crowded with people, down to see the new steamer. The Shinshu Maru did not haul alongside, as stated in an afternoon paper yesterday. She is still out in the stream and will remain there for four or five days, when she will return to Yokohama. Her freight will be dis charged by means of scows. The British bark Swanhilda, Frazer master, on which it is believed Butler, the Australian murderer, shipped 3S a sailor under the name of Lee Weller, left Newcastle, N. S. W on Novem ber 23, and is destined, according to the New York Maritime Register, for Honolulu and San Francisco. Besides three steamers, the Kama- kura, Kanagawa and Hakata, which are being built for the Nippon Yusen Kaisha in England are expected to be completed in the course of a few months, there are nine steamers also being constructed for the same com- nanv in England. They are all over 4.000 tons displacement and have been named respectively, the Hitachi, Ka- wachi, Shinano, Sanuki, Sado, lnaoa, Tamba. Wakasa and Bingo; of course. each having the usual "Maru" attached to the end of their names. Japan Ga zette. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
