Chase has for rent a house on School street near Xuuanu, contain ing parlor, back parlor, dining-room, kitchen, pantry, bath and two large bed -rooms. Martin Smith and II. P. Eakin, who have leased the Kilauea Cyclorama, did not leave for the coast by the Rio de Janeiro. Mr. Smith will go by the Zealandia. D. H. James has severed his con nection with the firm of Theo. H. Davies & Co. He and his wife sailed for the Coast on the Rio de Janeiro last night. The meeting of the Commissioners of Education was postponed from yes terday to a day later. The meeting was called to order at the usual hour but Minister Cooper was called away leaving "no quorum." Louis Gotldstone, the young lawyer who has been here several weeks, re ceived news on the Zealandia of the serious illness of his brother in San Francisco and returned home on the Rio de Janeiro last night. There having been an earnest request for a repetition of the Easter music sung at Central Union Church, Mr Yarndley requests the Easter choir to meet him for rehearsal at the church on Saturday evening at 7:30. An effort is being made to get e'ec trie light from the Government plant for the race meet at Cyclomere tomor row evening. The Hawaiian Electric Company cannot furnish the light. All other arrangements are complete. lA'apaki Ioela was arrested yester day charged with practicing medicine without a license. Ioela is net a ka huna but has learned a little medicine here and there and has, it is claimed. attempted to "go into business."
