Judge Kalua of the Second Circuit, lias returned to his heme in Maui after attending Court at Kailua in the place of Judge Hitchcock, unable on account of illness to attend to lite duties. Judge Kepoikai and his family will be down from Maui on ize Maui, Sun day. This will bring him here in plen ty of time to take his seat in the Sen ate on Monday morning. According to statements made by various of the passengers from Maui on the Mauna Loa, the people there are very much pleased with the election of Judge Ke poikai in the Senate. S. Ahmi. the Kula planter, came down on the Mauna Loa for a short business trip to Honolulu. Re.p. Paris is back again from Kona, Hawaii, af;er a week's absence on business. He has interviewed his con stituents on various matters now penn ing before the Legislature and will 'be heard from soon. Threw a Stone. Casino, a young German girl, was arrested yesterday on the charge of assault and battery on a Portuguese bov, Joe de Sousa by name. She was released soon after arrest and ordered to present herself for trial this morn ing. It seems that Casino who lives down in the vicinity of Kakaako, had been sent to the corner grocery by her mother. While on her way one of the Portuguese hoodlums who frequent the place, ran after and 'threw water on 'her. This was a signal for trouble and Casino, seeking to protect herself, picked up a stone and threw it with the intention of hitting the fellow who had given her the dose cf water. Her aim was ban as is orten tne case wun Second Battalion. There was a good turnout of each of the 'four companies cf the Second Bat talion, First Regiment, T. G. H., for the drill of last evening on the parade ground in front of the armory. Maj. McCarthy was under the .weather and could remain as a spectator for only a few minutes. The command fell to Capt. Camara, the senior company commander. .Capt. Camara did except ionally well with the battalion. After a .busy and instructive drill of nearly an hour there was a dress parade. The thanks of Capt. Camara was extended to officers and men at the dlose of the (drill and some sound advice was given for the good of the battalion. Miss Adair's Show. A fu'll dress rehearsal was -held last evening of the specialty performance to be g'iven at the Opera House -tonight by Miss Adair's company. Everything went off very smoothly. Miss Adair has some new songs that will be sure to prove popular. The vitasccpe is some thing fine and the sketches and music generally will be of a high order. Seats are on sale at Wall, Nichols Co. Wedding Cake. The staff of the local department of the Advertiser has received some wed ding cake forithe happy George Wash ington Smith and finds the article up to the usual standard. The curios consist of "full dress suits," fans, spears, mats, shells, etc. A Convent Death. Sister Euphrosine Oursel of the Sac red Hearts Convent, died this morning at the school. She was 67 years of age and was one of the oldest work ers in the Catholic Church in Hawaii. The date of her arrival here was March 19th, 1SG4.- The funeral will take place from the Convent on Fort street at 9 a. m. today. The Bishop of Panopolis will conduct a mass. Fast Horses. The S. X. Castle which arrived yes terday, brought two horses for W. H. Rice and 21 for H. J. Agnew who came, along .wiih his aninvals,, Mr. Agnew brings a number of very fast horses that are liable to turn out surprisers in the races on the 11th of June.
