At the meeting of the Woman's Board in the Central Union Church yesterday afternoon, Mrs. W. A. Bowen told something of the Inland Chinese Mission that is supported entirely by offerings sent in answer to prayer. Miss McDonald's lecture will be giv en on Thursday morning of this week on the lanai at Mrs. J. B. Atherton's on King street. It is hoped that this change in the place of meeting will not interfere with the usual attend ance. In the Police Court yesterday morn ing, the case of H. Walters the former Andrew Welch sailor, for assault and battery on two police officers, was nolle pross'd. Domingo, a Portuguese lad, was reprimanded on pleading guilty to the charge of disobedience to parents. Now comes a complaint from the re sidents of Punchbowl, who allege that ever since a couple of days after the cessation of the recent heavy rain, they have been deprived of their sup ply of water during the day time and only in the morning and evening is the water turned on. Waterhouse's delivery wagon was seen disappearing in runaway style toward the water front early yesterday afternoon. The horse was standing quietl5' outside the store on Queen street when some of the harness wont wrong. The animal started off and very fortunately, missed everything on the way to the water front. The final arrangements for the ball at Independence Park on Queen Vic toria's birthday will be completed this week and the committees will be se lected early next week. The Sons of St. George anticipate it will be the largest dance yet given on this occa sion and hope that all nationalities will assist in celebrating the occasion.
