During the last (fortnight we have refrained from talking shop for three reasons: First Every one felt so wrapped jp in the "Boys in Blue" that they did not care much about furniture or listening to any lengthy talk on our part. Second The weather having been snch that people would much rather tav at home and keen as cool as po.-si ffiip in -nrpferenre to moving around in the sun. rrhirfl Thi.q reason of course is of more interest to us than to our cus tnmPN unless thev are directly in terested by having goods in our re r?n'r shnn. Regardless of the hot weather we have had a3 much, and some days more, than we could handle in the repair and upholstery depart ment. So that while you folks have been entertaining or keeping quiet we have been operating a bee hive. We do not object at all, in fact we will be more than pleased to see the orders roll in to such an extent that we would 'be forced to employ additional upholsterers. Table Talk. A young Pake armed with a foot of half inch iron bolt tried to do heavy injury to an older man of his race on Nuuanu street, near Chaplain lane, yesterday afternoon. The quarrel was over a money matter. The young fellow claimed wages due and said he proposed to get satisfaction by using the bolt. The older Chinaman succeeded in warding off the murder ous blows directed and in disarming the young man. The bolt was secured only through the intervention of Wal ter C. Weedon, president of the Y. M. C. A. Mr. Weedon has been working in the gymnasium lately and boldly i plunged into the fray at a peacemaker. A tilt of two cents per gallon in the price of milk is not out of sympathy for the boom in the sugar stock mar ket. It is announced by the trust or association that the advance is made imperative on account of the heavy and unexpected rise in the price of hay and grain. Feed stuffs have been advancing in figures for some months. I For this reason and on account of the killing of a number of tubercular dairy cows by the Board of Health, the increase in the price of milk was not unanticipated. I'mialiou Preparatory.
