The tenders must be for the price
per pound for Hides and for Tallow de
livered on the wh3rf, Honolulu, on
weights approved by an agent of the
Board of ILealth. Payments are to be
made in U. S. gold coin, immediately
after delivery of the goods.

cavator wagon now in use by the Gov
ernment Excavator Service, width of
tires to be that prescribed for such
vehicles by the terms of the "Act Re
lating to and Concerning Vehicles,
Tires and Wheels."

SALE OF LEASE OF GOVERNMENT
LOT NO. 15, ESPLANADE, HONO
LULU, OAHU.
On Monday, January 23, 1SW, at 12
o'clock noon, at the front entrance of
the Executive Building, will be sold at
public auction the lease of Government
Lot No. 15 Esplanade, Honolulu, Oahu
Term 30 years.
Upset rental $C00 per anuum, pay
able quarterly in advance.
This sale is upon the conditions pro
vided for in Sections 2 and 4 of Act
7 of the Laws of 1S9G, viz.:
Section 2. Every such lease shall
contain a covenant on the part of the
lessee that he shall during the first
four years of the term of the lease,
cause to be erected upon the leased
property a fire-proof building of brick,
stone or metal, in a workmanlike man
ner, satisfactory to the minister, at not
less than a stated cost, and shall keep
the same suitably insured at not less
than two-thirds of its value, for the
benefit of the lessor; and shall keep
such building an good repair during the
remainder of the term of the lease, rea
sonable use and wear thereof only ex
cepted, and in case of damage or de
struction of such huilding by fire shall
make good euch loss or damage by the
necessary repairs or reconstruction, or
else surrender the insurance to the
lessor.
Section 4. Every such lease shall
also contain a covenant on the part of
the lessor that upon the request in
writing of the lessee or his representa
tives, before the expiration of the term
thereof, the premises with the im
provements shall, if all of the condi
tions to be performed by the lessee
have been satisfactorily performed, be
put up at auction for a lease for a term
of not over twenty years; unless said
premises shall be required for public
uses, of which the lessee shall receive
at least one year's notice. Such auc
tion sale shall be held not more than
six months nor less than one month
before the expiration of said term.
The cost of the building to.be erected
in accordance with Section 2, as above,
to cost not less than $7000.
The material to be used for the erec
tion of said building to be of brick or
stone.

WATER NOTICE.
In accordance with Section 1 of
Chapter XXVI of the laws of .1886:
All persons holding water privileges
or those paying water rates, are here
by notified that the water rates for the
term ending June 30, 1S99, will be
due and payable at the office of the
Honolulu Water Works, on the 1st day
of January. 1S99.
All such rates remaining unpaid for
15 days after they are due will be sub
ject to an additional 10 per cent.
All privileges upon which rate3 re
main unpaid February 15th, 1899, (30
days after becoming delinquent) are
liable to suspension without further
notice.
Rates are payable at the office of
the Water Works in the Kapualwa
Building.

IRRIGATION NOTICE.
Holders of water privileges, or those
paying water rates, are hereby notified
that the hours for Irrigation purposes
are from 6 to S o'clock a. m. and from
to 6 o'clock p. m.
II. Holders of water privileges on
the slopes of Punchbowl above Green
street, and in Nuuanu valley above
School street, are hereby notified that
they will not be restricted to the irri
gation hours of C to 8 a. m. and 4 to 6
m., but will be allowed to irrigate
whenever sufficient water Is available,
provided that they do not use the water
for irrigation purposes for more than
four hours in every twenty-four.
