The man who was caught at the
Oceanic wharf gateway with two tins
of opium in each sleeve of his coat was
fined ?200 in the District Court. The
charge was opium in possession.

body of Walter von Gassheck, M Com
pany, First New York. The man died
in the Hilo hospital of typhoid. The
corpse will he shipped to Kingston.

Manager Lucas, of the Hawaiian
hotel, made all j.roniises good at the
dinner and hop Saturday night. The
banquet was one of best ever given
at the hotel and a number of society
people were out for the dancing. The
hotel was beautifully decorated.
A brother of Mr. Graham, of Castle
& Cooke, .arrived on the Miowera, ac
companied by his wife. They will re
main in the city for a time and then
ioiva for the coast. The Mr. Graham
just arrived is agent in the Northwest
for the Southern Pacific Railway Com
pany.
Christmas eve there was a most de
lightful Christmas tree entertainment
atthe residence of Mr. and Mrs. F. M.
