THE LIVES OF THE OWNERS
"All Kinds of People to Make Up a
World." Characteristics and
Careers Outlined.
Steamboat: You are cautious, con
servative and cool. You do not rush
blindly ahead, but look before you leap
Into your life will come strong tempta
tion to make money quickly, but al
though you' will not always refrain
from risks you will not be venturesome
without deliberation. You are prac
tical and not fickle, starry once hap
pily. Will never make a fortune, but
will possess what you have without
losses or any special worry, iou are
not really fond of society though you
are socially inclined. For "settling
down" you have a special genius. Yrou
have a good constitution and will live
long and as happily as the averag
man.
OOO
Billy Patterson: This is the hand of
a kleptomaniac. Your ideas of the
rights of property are thin as vapor.
Ambitious, proud of appearances, you
would scruple at nothing to advance
your worldly station. Music and lin
guistic talent strongly marked. You
are crafty and scheming and will over
reach yourself. A severe Illnes3 and
domestic unhappiness appear In your
hand. Will live only to about middle
age.
OOO
Mary Jane J.: Gentle, quiet and
dignified. Strong love of home life,
but popular in society. Very deter
mined and at times willful, but not to
the point of obstinacy. Rather prac
tical in your views and with high
moral principle. "Will marry once,not
the man of your choice, but one who
will prove a devoted, loyal husband
Much travel and a moderately long life
free from accidents and ill health.
OOO
Ajax: A gracious, courtly, old
school gentleman. Gallant and debon
air, hospitable and brave. Your Idea3
of honor are steadfast and your regard
for women is sincere and respectful
You will marry once and your wife wil
be a queen in your household. You wil
inherit a large fortune and will enter
tain sumptuously. There Is an unfor
tunate passion for gambling indicated
in your hand, and the subduing of this
passion will be the hard struggle of
your life. Your special talent lies in
the memorizing of good stories and an
inimitable manner of relating them.
You are a brilliant after-dinner speak
er. 'Will meet with a violent death at
the age of sixty-eight.
OOO
Polly S.: You are gentle and gen
erous in every sense of the word. You
are a good friend and would put your
self out to any extent to be obliging.
iou are a social favorite and inspire
true affection and admiration. You
will marry once and will be the happy
wife of a happy husband. You are am
bitious and are not altogether satis
fied with the environments and limita
tions of your life. As you grow older
you will become more philosophical
and more regardless of conditions that
now seem to you of grave moment
X VUl it 111 llUk UX5 J L Okiiiiua
excitement or romantic adventure, but
will be well regulated and - calmly
equable. Your health is fair and your
future holds much of happiness and
good.
OOO
uomeo: iou are a dead game
sport," a regular "warm number." Ex
citement and gaiety are life to you
Fast horses are your idols. Desperate
flirtations are every day incidents and
the Waikiki road is no doubt the scene
of many of your exploits. Fickle and
gay, you lead a butterfly existence and
by way of variety probably woo Dame
Fortune at the stock market. Irre
sponsible, impulsive and rash, you
have courage and a warm, generous na
ture. Will marry and see the error of
your ways.
OOO
Iolanthe: Your first impressions are
the best to follow. You have keen in
tuition and are blessed with common
sense and powers of discrimination.
You are impressionable as wax, but al
though this is not always a virtue, it
is so in your case. Your powers of
memorizing are poor, so the gift of el
ocution, which you possess to a marked
degree, wili not be of any special ser
vice to you, or entertainment to your
friends. There is no sign of marriage
in your palm, but men are strongly at
tracted towards you and you will never
be without the devotion of some one
of the opposite sex. A large fortune
will be lefC to you before you are twenty-eight
and your life will be full of
charitable impulses well carried out.
ooo
Humming Bird: Yours will be a life
of disappointment. You would make
an ideal wife, but will never be one.
Your capacity for loving is infinite, but
the "right man" will never come along.
iou have a strong constitution, but
suffer from blinding headaches. There
are many bright prospects as well as
brilliant hopes indicated, but happiness
never reaches the culminating point
with you. Your friends are no: wisely
chosen and will fail you when the time
comes to prove that they are friends.
A warning will do you no good, be
cause of your impetuosity, hut there is
a blonde man who will cast a shadow
over your life which avoidance of him
could avert. You will die a sudden
death, possibly in an accident, but
probably from heart failure.
Waterfront: Inquisitive, irascible
and keen. Fond of the "latest," what
ever it may be. Not averse to gossip
and probably know where the stage
door of the Orpheum is located. No
marked talent, but will always live on
"Easy" etreet. Fickle and changeable
you will lead a merry life, in which a
brunette plays a prominent part. Will
marry late in life and become a staid,
useful citizen.
VOLUNTEERS WILL RETURN.
WASHINGTON, April 24. Secretary
Alger said that yesterday's battle at
Quinga had not altered the plans of the
department In any degree. Gen. Otis,
Gen, Lawton, Admiral Dewey and the
Philippine Commission all were fully
authorized to deal with the situation
in the Philippines according to their
best judgment, and the department be
lieved it would be good policy to re
frain from meddling unnecessarily.
The Secretary said that if Otis wants
more troops he shall have them and
that meantime the department will
make every effort to hasten the relief
of the volunteers by regular soldiers.

COUGH.
Last winter during an epidemic of
whooping cough my children contract

spells. We had used Chamberlain's
Cough Remedy very successfully for
croup and naturally turned to it at that
time and found it relieved the cough
and effected a complete cure. John E.
