According to the latest advices received by Captain V. W. Robinson, Jr., of the quarter master's department, August 10 is the date set for the arrival in Seattle of the Third cavalry. How long it will remain here will depend upon the ar rival of the transports, and how soon they can be gotten into condition, but the date will probably be after Aug ust 20. The Athenian, it is expected, will come into port late this evening. The Port Albert is now at Victoria, and it is thought will reach here about the same time as the Athenian. Regarding the Victoria, nothing has been heard since the advice stating she would arrive August 1. Nothing is known about the Hancock, but the de partment is led to believe that she will arrive in San Francisco about Aug ust 1. Of the entire fleet, the Garonne alone is here at the. present time. Work on changing her is being pushed orward as rapidly as possible. The work throughout will be com plete, and will' furnish every conven- ence for the stock in transit. Woodland Park is being prepared as a camp for the men and horses. Late yesterday afternoon Captain Robinson received advices from the owners of several big docks, offering the Govern ment the free use of them for the St ag out of the transports. R. C. A. Isn't it an occurrence of statement that can be proven true and correct in every particular? What constitutes conclu sive evidence to the mind of a Hono lulu citizen? Is it the statement of some one made in Texas or California? We think not, but when some of our own people make a statement and it is ndorsed by many, there can be no question about that. Under these cir cumstances we call them facts, and hey are every-day facts, because they are occurring every day. Don't take our word for what is said. If you are not satisfied, ask them; people don't make such assertions without good reasons. The Rev. J. Xua of Kawaiahao in forms us- "I suffered from kidney trouble, which was, I believe, caused by my lifting heavy weights whilst young. Pains in the small of my back were one of the symptoms of my complaint. My trouble extends back to the time when I was 2S years of age, and as 1 am now 49, that is a considerable pe riod. During all this time I was sub ject to pains in the back. They con tinued despite the fact that I consult ed several physicians and took numer ous remedies. No relief thus gained can be compared to the benefit ob tained from using Doan's Backache Kidney Pills. I have got on wonder fully well since taking them. I am quite satisfied with the result, and shall always have some of the pills by me, even when going from Honolulu to other missionary fields in the South Pacific. There is no other remedy like Doan's Backache Kidney Pills for kid ney complaints, including backache." It Is important to get the same pills which helped Mr. Nua DOAN'S BACKACHE KIDNEY PILLS. There fore, ask for Doan's Backache Kidney Pills. Doan's Backache Kidney Pills are sold by' all druggists and storekeepers at 50 cents per box (six boxes for $2.50), or will be mailed on receipt of price by the Hollister Drug Co., Ho nolulu, wholesale agents for the Ha waiian Islands. FASTEST BRITISH WAR-SHIP. The 34.286 knots attained by H. M. S. Albatross during her trials over the Maplin course gives her the proud dis tinction of being the fastest ship in Her Majesty's navy. The vessel is a "destroyer," built by Messrs. J. I. Thornycroft and Co., of Chiswick. Her dimensions are Length, 227ft.; bread th,, 21ft. 3in.; and draught, 8ft 6in. She is, therefore, considerably larger than the 27 and 30 knot boats already in the service, and the value of the high speed obtained was well shown when running abreast of the destroyer flotilla at their full speed. Undoubted ly the larger vessel is the better sea boat, and has a larger radius of act ion at high speed, as well as a greater comfort of the crew. The Admiralty was represented by Mr. W. J. Harding, R. N., and Mr. Pine, Admiralty over seers. It is but fair to say that the 34. 2S6 knots was made when running with wind and tide, the weather being very boisterous and squally, the wind velo city varying from about 20 to 30 knots; two runs were, however made against these conditions, the mean of the three runs showing 32.294 knots. The vessel is well flared at the bow, and conse quently very dry on deck, even when going full speed against wind and sea, and scarcely showed any heeling, even when, turning sharply.
