differ from men ir. the coasting trade.

which they sail.
The Seamen's Club of Honolulu Is
not a shinning office: neither Is it the
Sailors Home: it differs from any sail
ors Institute with which I ata ae
qualntcd. The Soairen's Institute of
San Francisco has separate rooms for
masters and mates. Here all are in the
"foVastle" and "Jack Is as good as his
master." The only taut lines are the
simple rules governing the Institution
which have never yet been stranded or
broken.
This nautical craft was launched by
Mr. A. F. Cooke on Washington's
Hirthday. and placed under the
mnnnirement of Mr. Charlt s Lmtnet

lowed, but an average of forty dozen
bottles of soda water and kindred
drinks have been sold weekly. The
men play on musical instruments, sing.
dance, smoke, spin yarns, read, write,
as they may elect. livery evening the
men have impromptu concerts.
The regular entertainment Is given
twice each month by city talent and
by the frequenters of the club. The en
