The "Midway" Filipinos were a care
less, improvident lot. They wete
"shipped" at from $1 to " a month
(Mexiconl. What money the people
managed to get from the company was
spent at ome for tin types and ice
cream. The Filipino village was neat
ly laid out and elaborately furnished.
There was a theater and or. of the best
things produced a a Filipino com

of caribou and on did same remark
able diving In the lagoon on the prem

the water became cold.
