The transport Senator has now h.-n over a year and four months in the service of the Government, and during that time she has proved herself to b one of the best and most economical of the Philippines llect. During her term of service as a transport the Sen ator has been under steam 2"S days and has run over 70.000 nautical miles. Her coal consumption during this time: was 11,000 tons and on it the vessel has J averaged 11 knots an hour. On her first voyage the machinery was not in per- j feet order and slow time was made.! which fact has cut down the Senator's! general average for speed. During her term of service the Senator has carried over 1,000 soldiers to and from the Philippines and 1.000 tons of freight. She has proved herself a most comfor table troopship and the Iowa boys who returned home on her say they vere never better treated in their lives. The Senator was to sail again for the Phil ippines from San Fiancisco on Novem ber 1. She is a San Francisco ship, having been built and engincd at the I'nion Iron Works. HONOLULU STOCK EXCHANGE.
