In reference to the meeting of the Republican party of Hawaii tomorrow evening, it is understood by the old standbys of the Republican party that it is doubtful whether Mr. Murray or any other prominent politician in tnese Islands has .the right to convene the Republican party. According to the Star some time ago, Mr. Robert Shin gle has the authorization from the Na tional Republican Committee to estab lish ward clubs throughout the Islands. He has not done so, perhaps doubtful of his authority. It was then decided that no action should be taken until alter territorial legislation became a fact, it has been learned that certain prominent Republicans have written to the Coast to ascertain when and how the Hfpublican party on the Islands shall be organized. The intention of this correspondence was not to cafit any reflection on Mr. Shingle's authority, lat to ascertain .ie legitimate method tt organizing the Republican party and t what time, without permitting au thority to extraneous politicians t ' or ganize ward or peace clubs in tase Islands. U is felt by the Republicans who iave proved their allegiance to the par ty by their actions and votes that they should not b ignored by men who arrer have, heretofore, proved their devotion to the cauae. REPUBLICAN. HEALTH ITEMS Garvin for Executive Officer. Ruir.ur Says G. W. tmith Will le i'lt-sidtiA. ci tli licard Kuu- At tlu- m-:ir.g of the Hoard of Health this afternoon Dr. Gatvin will be oflYrcd the position of executive of ficer of the Hoard. Dr. WooJ informed a reporter definitely to this effect last night. Dr. Garvin returned from Maui by the Mlkahaia ou Saturday morning. 1W hud l.Ha adviied to return by the Hoard of uealth and it is probable that he will not go back to Kahulul, as hi3 services there are not likely to be needed. It i.s -stated that. Inasmuch as the of fices of president and executive officer of the Hoard of Health aie likely to be .-separate, either Mr. Lowrey or Mr Smith will likely be elected presi dent. This Is only rumor. However, rumor has it that G. XV. Smith id the mo. likely appointee. Mr. Smith avoided any conversation on the sub ject yesterday when a reporter casual ly inquired concerning the matter. Prophylactic Plenteous. Inasmuch as the supply of prophylac tic has run very low of late at the Hoard of Health headquarters. Dr. Car inichael has furnished the health au thorities with J.oou doses of the pla&ue prevt iitivc. The anti-pest serum is scarce a!-o at the plague ho.-pital and Dr. C'arinichael has sent K.t) tubes of the curative to help along. It is hoped, however, that curative serum will not be found iiece.-aaiy. The Hoard is now enabled to treat till persons who apply for the prophylactic and the inoculat ing of as many people as possible 13 greatly favored by the authorities. Some Running Expenses.
