FORT ST., NEAR KING. West, and this community will lose not only a gifted pastor, but a remarkably skillful musician. It is to be hoped by all that someone may be found who can take his place as leader of the "Choral," and that the society may not give up its task of entertaining and educating the people of the district with its really fine singing. The program was as follows: Ruth A Cantata Kohala Choral Give Me Days of Golden Glory Mr. E. E. Olding Chorus Estudiantina Pupils of Kohala Seminary Birth of the Opal Ladies' Voices Hallelujah Chorus Haendel Kohala Choral. Mrs. John Hind, as principal soloist, ained a complete victory. It is rarely tfthat a voice is heard with such breadth and sweetness, mingled with sym pathy and simplicity. Her rendition of the parts of Ruth and Naomi was most beautiful. Mr. F. C. Paetow gave the part of Boaz in his customary vig orous style, although suffering from a cold. Mr. E. E. Olding's singing of Rubenstein's stirring song was very fine, and it is a pleasure to say that he is developing a remarkably good method. The chorus by the pupils of the Ko hala Seminary showed the same care ful training that we note in the "Chor al," arM the manner in which the young ladies gave the gay students' songs was delightful. The glorious Hallelujah Chorus was given most satisfactorily, and one can but admire the ambition and courage of the little band of singers. Mrs. Austin at the piano and Mr. Austin at the organ, comprised the or chestra, and rendered their part In a very spirited manner. The full chorus was as follows: Sopranos Miss Eliza Atkins, Mrs. B. n. Bond. Miss C. S. Bond. Mrs. J. N. Bell, Miss Jennie Glass, Mrs. John Hind, Miss Piilani Jones, Mrs. E. E. Olding. At a meeting of the Fire Claims Com mission held yestereday morning It was decided to get to work holding sessions for the hearing of claims Monday next. The sessions of the Board will be held at the rooms of the Chamber of Commerce. Bids for books, registers, etc., to be used by the Fire Claims Commission in this work on the fire claims, were open ed. The award went to tne Bulletin, it being the lowest bidder. There was con siderable difference between the highest and lowest bids. The bid for forms to be used by claimants was awarded to the Republican office. Mr. F. W. Macfarlane estimates that there will be about 10,000 claims filed, and at tie rate of ten claims a day, which he thinks a very fair average, it will take nearly two years before all the claims will be adjudicated. To finish on time, about seventy claims a day must be handled. The Act creating the Commission gives it six months in which to do the work, which Mr. Macfarlane thinks far too short. No claims for contingent damages will be considered by the commission. Mr. W. F. C. Hasson, who is assisting the Chinese Consul in preparing claims, says so far the claims presented are very reasonable. One Chinese has a claim for $21.75, covering everything in wearing apparel, from a pair of socks to a suit of clothes. There will be no appeal from the find ings of the Commission as far as the fire claims are concerned, as each claim must be filed in accordance with the Act dealing with the claims, and coun sel will be appointed by the Attorney General to represent the Government on each case. The Act creating the Com mission appropriates $1,500,000 to pay the claims. For sale rv Business J LATH JAMES HUTCH ,tret For particulars sail tor Estate of James P CflTrv r'rtraent The.
