Judge Little has handed down an opinion declaring the Territorial stamp tax to be unconstitutional and void. Stobie and Eliza McCarroll Reid was solemnized last , Saturday evening at the home of Dr. It. H. Reid by Rev. G." D. Pearson. After the impressive ceremony and congratulations, the guests were served with a delightful supper, which con cluded, the party drove to the home of J. T. Moir at Papaikou, where tiiey have been guests for a week. The bride was beautifully attired in a gown of crepe de chine over . tan silk, and wore but one ornament, a brilliant star studded with diamonds, the gift of the groom. VALUABLE DOG DEAD. The magnificent Great Dane dog, the property of Miss Elsa Grubb, superin tendent of the Hilo Hospital, died of acute glanders on July 18. The dig was of blooded stock and was valu able. His pedigree was a long on?. He was by Prince L., winner of third prize, out of Belle II, she by Hector imp.) out of Belle I (first prize 1S92), she by imported Malock, out of Queen, she by Marco, out of Nellie. The last two' were owned by Porter Asche and A. B. Spreckel3, respectively. Rover was whelped in San Francisco. January 16, 1896. A sister of Belle II took first prize and special prize at the San Francisco dog show in 1S9S. Miss Grubb recently refused an offer of JSOO for the r BRIEF NOTES.
