Roderick Dhu is to command the
steamer Rosecrana, recently bought for
service on the Hilo route.
The ship Fort George failed to get
away for San Francisco yesterday and
remained last night at the anchorage
outside. She will probably sail today.
The bark Roderick Dhu sailed from
San Francisco, on July 23, with a gen
eral cargo and the following passengers
for Hilo: Mrs. Thomas H. Whitney,
sister of W. Zoller of the Pacific Steam
Navigation Company, sailed for the
round trip to Hilo, and is accompanied
by Mrs. Peter Johnson, wife of the
Roderick Dhu's master, and her chil
dren. The other paawengera are Mrs.
A. Napthaly, A. L. Mann, Mr. Dacu
melster, Mrs. L. L. Cameron and two
chil iren, Dr. Thompson, Dr. Maynard.
Mr. Ross and two children of George
McKenzie.

SAN FRANCISCO". July 21: The
steamship Hawaiian, Captain Nichols
of the American-Hawaiian Steamship
Company," has aaln broken the record
for fast passages of the big freighters
of that line from New York to this
port, coming in yesterday, after a run
of 57 days, from the Atlantic metropo
lis. - On her last previous trip from New
York the Hawaiian made the trfp In SI
days, but -this was beaten by the steaat
ship American, which made the ran in
o? days and 23 hours. Now the Hawaii

charge of the englinesi, has come around
from New York in 57 days, bringing a
