Monthly Session Is Wei
Attended Petrie on
Sociability.
The Diamond Head Athletic Club
held its monthly meeting at the Y. M.
C. A, last night, among those present
being L. Petrie, George Desha, D. Sher
wood. R. Clark. S. Chilling worth, U
Lemon, Perry, A. Robertson, E. Grune,
George Clark, Sharsch, O. Jones, E
Fernandez, Major Hart, Sumner, Ben
Clarke, J. Clarke.
President Petrie was chairman and
Geo. Desha secretary.
Skating Manager Chilhngworth re
ported that the club had won the re
lay race cup offered by the Queen
street rink and that there was yet an
other to be won, the Zoo trophy, in
which the Heads had already a couple
of legs.
The cup was handed round for in
spection and was greatly admired.
President Petrie congratulated Chil
lingwrorth on having been instrumental
in securing such a splendid trophy.
The club has won so many cups that
it is getting to be quite an undertaking
to take proper care of them. It was
decided to have the mugs collected and
placed in a safe for safe-keeping.
In a short time the Diamond Head
boys will be recognized at a glance by
the wearing of a lapel button which
a committee is now designing. A mo
tion to have a club button made was
carried unanimously last night.
After considerable discussion the
proposition to give an entertainment at
the Queen street rink was dropped.
. In this connection me cnair com- j
mented on the fact that a club should
have a certain number of social events
in order to bring members closer to
gether. They met once a month, some
of them, at the business session tf the
club, it was true, and the men on the
athletic teams were in touch with each
other. A dance or social, however,
was what brought everybody in the
rinh into contact and fostered that

A BIG LUAU
A sumptuous luau, of which the pivot

given to themselves yesterday by the

which was spread at the home of Mas -
ter Alfred Freitas, and the pig, nine
chickens and four dozen bottles of soda
water, besides side dishes, shot the
shutes. A quintet club sunplied the
music for the luau as well as for the
hay wagon ride around the city, which
wound up the affair. Excited by the
soda water a mob of the boys charged
on the Advertiser late last evening and
left fragments of information about the
luau all over the place.

There have been rumors of a propos
ed combination of various drug stores,
and. naturally, some denials by the
parties at interest, and while there
have been no direct confirmations, yet
it is believed that such a deal has been
contemplated.
It has been said that President
Shingle of the Henry Waterhouse
Trust Company, had formed the scheme
but his absence from the city prevents
confirmation from that source.
Some of the drug men have made flat
denials of any participation in such a
scheme. Others have said they had
heard the rumors and then gave their
reasons why they did not believe that
the deal would be consummated. There
were certain drug interests, such men
argued, who would desire to wield the
big end of the combine. There is not
one man who would want to head this
combine, but two or three, and it is
not believed that one would be willing
to give way to the other, unless re
couped by heavy financial returns from
the deal.
One of the largest firms is said to
have prepared its figures for the deal
to be submitted to Mr. Shingle for con
sideration. These figures are said to
comprise not only his own establish
ment, but to some extent the other
stores. At least three stores are sup-
Psed to be grouped for the deal.
