John Robinson, formerly a well known sugar boiler on Hawaii, died on Friday, July 2ft. He was - buried at Peail City. Mr. Robinson was born in England in 1S34. A widow survives him. , D. Yashida, a Jap of the Palama dis trict, ordered and ate a meal in a restaurant yesterday for which he had not the price to pay. As- a conse guence he will have police fare until his trial on a charge of gross cheat. I Deputy Attorney General Prosser left on the Kinau for Kohala yesterday. Miss Grace Kutherford of Oakland, California, who for the past year has been in charge of Hilo's kindergarten, leaves on the Kinau today for a short visit in Ho nolulu and thence to her home. Her sister, who came down on the last Enterprise, accompanies her. Miss Grace Rutherford has made . many warm friends during her stay in Hilo, who very much regret her leaving. Especially will she be missed in Hilo's dramatic circle, where she has done excellent work. Her first appearance here, as Sierra in "The Box of Mon keys," proved her possessed of more than ordinary histrionic ability, and since then she has appeared in many of Hilo's entertainments, notably as Bess in "Santiago," given on July fourth by the Elks. It was sold to Brewer & Co.. the only other bidder being Curtis Iaukea, St. Peters church, which is the Chi nese congregation of the Episcopal church, will give a fair in the Iolani College grounds sometime .about the first of September. The congregation is in great need of money, and ladies of the other congregations have under taken to help the Chinese ladies make the fair a. success. There will be some wonderful novelties shown. Letters received from Tonga state that Bishop Willis Is building a larger church edifice than that in which they have worshiped since the Bishop went into the South Seas four years ago. The . Tongan Parliament has refused to turn over the schools of the king dom to the control of the churches, and has passed an act repealing tne law requiring natives on horseback to dismount and salute on meeting a chief.
