G.P. kF.A. and Mr. Opponent is given an abrupt little shock. Sometimes a myriad of stars of dazzling brightness pop into vision as the champion's blow lands. If the big fellow is in real earnest the recipient of the i t 1 1 betakes himself to the Land of Dreams for a brief visit, and returns none the worse for the ex perience within a few seconds. Johnson has the knack of landing a knockout blow down to a science. Fought Jeffries "Under Wraps." The fellow had apparently been hold ing much in reserve prior to his battle with Jim Jeffries. Jie merely toyed with Tommy Burns and Stanley Ket chel. and judging by what was seen of him at the Star Theater last week, he 1'oujht Jeffries ''under wraps," tir i use a turf exoression. I'.ob Fit.:-immoris was considered the eraltiesf ring general among the later day heavyweight champions, but in this n.-speet he could not show Jack John son anviliiug. .bdiiison is a much more brainv lighter than he has been given 1 " II. 1 ..II 4- Vi H ...uiild icieuit 101. Jack is one of the best built men who ever dunned a glove, and he has a great amount of endurance, as is natural in men of his race. Clevelanders. who had nevi-r seen Johnson until last week, are no longer wondering that Jim Jeffries failed to -'come back." Many of the wise ones are now expressing the opinion that this big ebony skinned Apollo could have defeated Jeffries when the big white fellow was in the v.cnith of his career. Ferguson a Possibility. BOSTON, August 27. George Little, the former manager of Jack Johnson, has now taken Sandy Ferguson, the big heavyweight of Boston, under his man agement, with the hope of eveutualiy forcing Johnson to meet him for the heavyweight title. Little seems to think that Ferguson, with proper handling, is the most likely heavyweight to beat Johnson, and with that idea in mind he intends to get him into the best possible condition, and after he wins a few fights with him intends to challenge Johnson. 2. r 12.7561 3, wn,ec TSO.Ott 2 W t,SOG,ctt 2 500, 00 l.i'OO.UOC 800,000 500.000 i 9, 500,000 i .. 00,000 1 COO.OOCi 6.000.00.' ; 5,0O0,00 751: .not 2.2W.OFC 7-O.Ot'T 2,710.000! 4.soo.onoi 1,500.000! 2r.2.000i 125,000: 2250,000' 500,000 1.150,000 25C C0C 4.POC.G00 2.S"JO.OO0 4 00. 000 141.20C 87,210 l4,32r. 13,1 :W ijnt.
