1777 At first tho flag had thirteen
Btrlpcs and thirteen stars and It so
remained until tho year 1795 Tho
war of 1812 14 was fought under tho
flag of fifteen stripes and fifteen stars
In 181S tho stripes wero reduced to tho
original thirteen and provision was
nmdo for adding a star for each stato
admitted to the Union Tho number
of states nnd stars now Is forty five
Tho flag called the great union first
raised by Washington at Canibildgc
January 2 177C had thirteen alternate
led and White stripes and tho crosses
of St George and St Andrew
It was not until tho summer of 1882
that a distinctive Presidential flag
