Leaguo yesterday atternoou it was
decided not to admit the Marine
Guard team on th ground that tho
sailors want too muon of the seasons
earnings The following report of
the special committee appointod on
the Bubjeot was read and adopted
At tho meeting held to oonsider
the application of the Marino base
ball team held at 5 pm February
16 1904 at the Elks hall wore pres
ent the mauagors of the five teams
together with Lieut Horllee repre
sentative of the Marine bsBeball
toam
In the meeting Lieut Harllee ad
vanosd the proposition aa follows
Tho Marine baseball team be al
lowed to enter the League on equal
footing with th other teams
In diecuBBiontho question of what
intoreBt the other teams nlready had
in the grounds was met by another
proposition viz That his team be
allowed twelre months to pay in the
amount already earned by th other
teams together with intsrest at
eight per cant and in oaso of failure
to do so they were to forfeit their
interest in the seventy per oent to
be oarned this year whioh your com
mittee thinks they ore not in any
way entitled to
We met this proposition with a
counter proposition to the effeot
that your eommittee would accept
tho application in acoordanco with
their original proposition whioh was
that we guarantee them their actual
expenses as they were not looking
forward to entering the Loague BB a
money makiog institution Your
committee went so far as to offer
them the Bum of three hundred dol
lars 300 which was not favored
bythem
Your committee therefore reports
against the admission of the Marine
baseball team to the Honolulu Baoo
ball League
