Toadlena Holds Homecoming
Genevieve Henry a bth grader
from Bisti, New Mexico, was hon
ored by the entire student body and
crowned Home Coming Queen of
1963 at Toadlena Boarding School
on Saturday, November 2nd. Miss
Henry was crowned during the half
time intermission of the game
played between the Toadlena Hill
toppers and Nenahnezad Tigers.
The queen’s two attendants, Paul
ine Tsosie from Bisti and Lopise
Brown from Toadlena also rode on
the queen’s car. Harrison Shirley,
a 6th grader from Newcomb and
co-captian of the football team had
the honor of crowning the queen.
Miss Henry was selected by a
student body vote of 241 out of a
possible 392. All the students at
Toadlena Boarding School were
permitted to vote. The queen was
announced at the Home Coming
program on Friday evening, Nov
ember Ist, by the dept, head guid
ance, Mr. G. Wayne Tapio. She
was escorted to the stage by Frank
Kosea also from Bisti. A beautiful
red robe was placed on the queen
and she was given a sheaf of roses.
The queen thanked all who had
voted for her and promised to the
student body that she would be a
good queen.
The Toadlena Hilltoppers put an
end to a great Home Coming day as
they defeated the Shiprock Sub-
Agency champions from Nenah
nezad 26-12 in a real fine lag
Football game, lhe teams battled
to a 12-12 first half score. The
half time Home Coming cere
monies seem to have inspired the
Toadlena team and especially right
half back, Harrison Shirley, who
scored almost as well throughout
the second half. The Toadlena team
ends its first season of tag football
with a 6-3 record.
The pre-game ceremonies in
