Billie) Christmas Activities At ASC The Christmas Season at Ari zona State College got into full swing this week as final plans were completed for the multitude of activities that preceed the annual Christmas vacation on the college campus. The College Buildings and Grounds crew has already acquired 31 eight-foot trees and two fif teen-foot trees to be placed in the various buildings on the campus as soon as the stands for them are completed. The Associated Women Students and Associated Men Students have planned a Christmas Tree cutting party, under the supervision of Sigma Chi, social fraternity, for Sunday, Dec. 8. The trimming by the organizations has been set for Wednesday, Dec. 11. The organizations will also sponsor a Christmas formal inthe Men's Gym at 9 p.m. on Satur day, Dec. 14. Theme is "Won derland by Night." Highlight of the many activi ties will be the annual Vesper Ser vice scheduled for Dec. 15 in the Men’s Gymnasium at 8 p.m. A cast of 100-150 will present the annual pagent. The program, under the direc tion of Millard Kinney, ASC music faculty, will include the famed Shrine of Ages Choir, the Ora Home Equipment Life Expectancy How long can you expect to keep a new refrigerator or range? “About 16 years if you're an average householder,” answers Miss Corinne Stinson, extension home management specialist with The University of Arizona. Miss Stinson gets the statis tic from a report by the U.S. De partment of Agriculture, which tells how long you can expect va rious applicances to last. Here are estimates for your other appliances bought new, of course: An automatic washing maching, 11 years; wringer type or spin-dryer, 10 years; dryer, 14 years; freezer, 15 years; vacuum cleaner, 15 to 18 years; sewing maching 24 years; toaster, 15 years; TV set, 11 year. Also on Dec. 17 the ASC dorm itories wi 11 have an invitation visit ation period from 7-9 p.m. The dormitories will be judged for the best Christmas decorations and will receive a prize of doughnuts and coffee served in the winning dormitory. Dec. 18, the seasonal caroling will take place from 6-7;30 p.m. on the college campus under the supervision of the Student Reli gious Council. South Dining Hall decorations are being done by Delta Delta Del ta, national social sorority, and North Dining Hall decorations are being done by Delta Chi, social fraternity.
