DUBLIN, Jan. 21.—The Sinn Feiners are planning today to make immediate challenge for government supremacy in Ireland, now that they have captured most of the local administrations in the recent election. Tbe local government board at Dublin Castle has the power to veto all pro posals of the local boards but the Sinn Feiners declare that they will refuse to carry out Dublin Castle’s dictates In the future. BOOST CHICAGO TEACHERS’ PAY Substantial Increase to Be Given, School Board Says. CHICAGO, Jan. 21.—Teachers in Chi cago public schools will be given a sub stantial increase In salaries .before Feb. 1, Superintendent of Schools Peter A. Mor tenson announced today. A general conference of the instructors’ organizations with the board of educa tion will be held tomorrow to determine the amounts of thp raise. Announcement of the increase was made on the eve of the start of an investigation by the city council into teachers’ salaries com pared with living costs. The teachers employed advertising in their campaign for increased wages.
