"1 / / The highest honor conferred on any industrial organixatson during the war was the award of the Champion Liberty Motor Builders' Pennant to the workers of Nordyke & Mor mon Company. Awarded for October , IQIS % Competition. Permanently awarded Nov. 16. Enthusiasm over exceptional accuracy of manufacture and noteworthy improvements is reflected in sales—-one hundred and seventy-one cars sold at New York and Chicago Shows T the New York and Chicago Automobile Shows, where are / % exhibited the latest achievements of automotive engineers and manufacturers, the Marmon exhibit was one of those which attracted most attention. Crowds surrounded the booth all day long. The remarkable accuracy of manufacturing which the Nordyke & Marmon organization acquired in the building of aircraft engines during the war created as profound an impression as did the intro duction, four years ago, of the Marmon scientific principles of light weight construction. A REMARKABLE DEMONSTRATION The unique feature of the Marmon exhibit which drew so much attention on the opening day of the Indianapolis Automobile Show was the sensation of the New York and Chicago Shows. Two men tear down and completely rebuild a Marmon high ef ficiency motor in one hour and fifteen minutes. It is not the purpose of this remarkable demonstration to show great speed in tearing down and rebuilding engines. It is given as a striking proof of the exceptional accuracy and precision which distin guish the Marmon high efficiency motor. Motor Age made the following editorial comment: “The Nordyke & Marmon Company was able to stage this display because the war taught that company the possibility and the advisability of working to closer limits—a resultant of airplane engine construction. The Lib erty motor contracts of the Mamion company called for both quan tity production and hairline accuracy of work. And the lessons learned redound to the advantage of the motor car industry.” AUTOMOBILE AUTHORITIES ENTHUSIASTIC The following excerpts from New York newspapers indicate the impression made by the new series Marmon 34 at the New York Show: The New York Evening Post: “The Marmon 34, with its High Efficiency Motor, seems as pronounced a novelty as was the first Marmon 34, shown four years ago, with its radical departure from conventional design.” NORDYKE & MARMON COMPANY, Indianapolis, U.S.A. The New York Sun: “Even veteran manufacturing head* agree that it is the most interesting demonstration of close limit* manufacturing ever staged at a national show. . . . New Mar mon 34 spells efficiency. Splendid external finish of motor indi cates its internal precision.” The New York American: “The parts displayed at this ex hibit prove that the internal finish of the new model is as splendid as the exterior o* the Marmon, which has always been exceptional.” IHE EVENING Telegram: “So accurately are the parts made and finished that the two men can complete the tearing down and rebuilding in less than one hour and a half.” Enthusiasm reflected in sales At all the shows the impression created by the new series Marmon 34 was reflected in the sales made. At the New York and Chicago Shows alone, 171 of the new series Marmon 34's were sold by the New York and Chicago distributors and by other dealers. Thirty cars were sold at retail during the week of the Kansas City Show. At Phila delphia, Milwaukee and other show's visitors gave concrete proof of their enthusiasm by placing orders for new' Marmons. given every afternoon and evening These demonstrations will be given every afternoon at 3:00 o’clock and every evening at 8:30 during the Indianapolis Automobile Show.
