MARION. Ind.. April 22/— Gray-haired
veterans of the Civil war staying at the
soldiers’ home here threw back their
shoulders today and felt like doing
“squads right” again.
The young women serving breakfast
appeared in white trousers and white
coats as a step to reduce the cost of
clothing.
At Fairmount the congregation of the
Christian church will attend services
Sunday in overalls and ginghams.
TERRE HAUTE— Forrest Meldrum. a
7-year-old newsboy, was instantly killed
when he was struck by a street car while
running across Wabash avenue near
Seventh street to greet his father.

lican nomination for the presidency, con
tinued his tirade against the league of
nations and denounced Preßldent Wilson
in two speeches here last night.
RICHMOND—HaII, rain and a heavy
wind which swept Wayne county yester
day damaged crops and other property to
the extent of several thousand dollars.

Kneip Murder Trial
ROCHESTER. N. Y., April 22 —James
Odell, charged. In company with his
wife, with murdering Edward J. Kneip.
resumed the witness stand in his trial
today.
He continued his description of the
crime.
Crowds attempted to get into the
courtroom.
Women were barred by the court on
account of the nature of the testimony.
Mrs . Hood's Funeral
Held From Residence
Funeral services for Mrs. AUc* Hood,
wife of Arthur M. Hood, who ended
her life by shooting herself at her home,

day night, were held at the home this

NEW YORK, April 22 Members of
the American Newspaper Publishers' as
sociation today unanimously adopted a
resolution pledging themselves not to use
more print paper in 1020 than in 1919.
The convention denounced attempts of
labor to dictate prices and competition,
declaring labor should be restrained by
legislation similar to that which now re
stricts business.
Other resolutions adopted include:

and reforestration bill now before con
gress.
