■ANKERS FAVOR K ‘BLUE SKY’ LAW Kane Legislation to Curb Wild Speculation Encouraged. Central Indiana bankers will stand be hind a movement for the enactment of a sane "blue sky” law. Their position was emphasized, follow ing an address delivered by D. W. Breed of Breed. Elliott & Harrison before group four of the Indiana Bankers’ association at a meeting last night In the Chamber of Commerce. A fraudulent promotion is born of a demand for certain classes of securities wthch appear to interest the public and offer hone of fabulous returns, Mr. Breed said. "‘The basic theory of the ‘blue sky’ law will be found to have reference to securities which have no past perform ance or investment record, whicn are subject to free estimates and unlimited promises.” said Mr. Breed. “The purpose should be definitely ex pressed as solely to discover and elimi nate or prosecute such persons or cor poration as may intend or accomplish the sale of security by means of decep tive statements.” stress upon truth in advertising l*aud judicious use of advertising space in building up good-will or business, was urged by Merle Sideaer. president of the Sidener-Yan Riper Advertising Com pany, in a talk on "Advertising as a Bankable Asset.” R. W. Aiken of Snlllivan, president of the Indiana Bankers’ association, urged the same steadfast loyalty in the man agement of business affairs as mani fested toward the government during the world war.
