MEXICO CITY, June s.—The war of extermination against banditry in Mex ico la being carried Into the state of Morelos, the stronghold of Emillano Za pata, formerly the most powerful outlaw chief In centra! Mexico. The war office announced today that 8,000 federal troops are being sent into Morelos to wage a campaign against the remaining units of the outlaw Zapatista band. An unconfirmed report was received br the war office that Gen. Felix Diaz, the rebel leader in the southern part of the atate of Vera Cruz, had been assassinated by bis own men. Diaxistas were said to hare proclaimed their adherence to the new provisional government of the state of Oaxaca. Six troop trains, carrying 6.000 rein forcements of infantry and cavalry, have left for the state of Chihuahua to assist Gen. Amaro in his campaign against Francisco Villg. Chihuahua City reports that Villa has been located in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains, near Parral, in the state of Chihuahua. WASHINGTON, June s.—Gen. Obre gon has severed his connection with the provisional government of Mexico in or der to take up his political activities, pre sumably as a candidate for the office of president, according to the Mexican press reports received today by the state de partment • Gen. The petition states that a compaign to obtain fifty new subscribers for the com pany in Scottsburg is being conducted this month, and they want this conces sion from the commission in order to offer the reduced rate as a special in ducement.
