OUT TOCKET VETO*
Sends Informal Decision to
Whitehonse.
WASHINGTON, June 10.—The so
celled pocket veto la Invalid and the
president has ten days from the date
of receipt In which to sign legislation,
according to an Informal opinion sent
to the whltehocse today by Attorney
• General Palmer.
The attorney general, it was an
nounced, will issue a formal opinion
later.

Dredge Concerns Told
to Warn Bathers
A warning was issued tbday to the
gravel companies who are engaged In
dredging Big Eagle creek, White river
and Fall creek that they must obey the
law requiring signs warning bathers of
the depth of the water where gravel
has been removed.
This warning was Issued by the board
of safety and Chief of Police Jerry
Kinney caused the order to be read at
roll call.
Patrolmen later visited the officers
of gravel companies and called their at
tention to the law.
Coroner Robinson has notified th*
county commissioners of tbo dangerous
deep hole in Eagle creek near the Van
uajia railroad bridge, where three per
sons have been drowned during the last
three weeks.
The coroner declared the county com
missioners should erect signs near tha
bridge warning swimmers of the deep
water, la which these are dangerous
under currents.

Must Be Left Closed
Patrolmen today notified custodians of
the downtown office buildings that they
must keep doors of freight lifts in the
sidewalks closed.
The order* came from the board of
safety and were read to the poiloemen
at morning rollcaU, calling attention to
the law and declaring that since the
warm weather started the custodians of
some buildings had permitted doors of
these lifts to remain open at times when
the elevator* were not In use.

NEW YORK, June 10.—Sugar bowl#
will be removed from tables as in war
time and patrons rationed, according to
a promise which Armtn W. Riley, special
assistant to Attorney-General Mitchell
Palmer, said he had obtained at a con
ference with New York restaurant pro
prietors. He was to take up the sugar
shortage today with hotel managers.
