POWERFUL ACTING DONE BY POST In Dual Role of Chilcote an cl Loder , Stories of mistaken identity and of dual Identity are as old as English literature, but only a few have stood J out as masterpieces—"A Comedy of Er- j rors." “Dr Jekyll and Air. Hyde,” “The | Masquerader.” n Such a story re quires^ the utmost of . feet whole. , Mr. Post accomplishes what is perhaps some of the most difficult acting in any play now on the boards, carrying out successfully the difficult parts of two en tirely different characters without a break or a flaw, holding the center of the stage almost continuously for nearly three hours. As John Chilcote he appears as the English gentleman, a member of Parlia ment, a young man who a spark of ,genius and with the possibilities of a great future, who is giving up his career, his happiness, all his possessions In his craze for drugs. As John Loder he appears as an en tirely different type, a young man of sober ambitions and S’w-'wrr-rr; . sober habits, yet withal, an added touch of genius. John Chilcote come to an important point in his career In Parliament, and, unable to go on be cause of his loath some habits, turns to Loder, who is his exact “double," to save him. Loder, with per haps more eager ness than wisdom, accepts the proposal and makes the name of OMlcote famous while the real Chilcote is dying of the drug habit. Obviously, such a play requires close attention to detail to carry out the Ulus sion of two characters. The mechanics of the play are truly wonderful, some of the transitions being so rapid as to be startling. To his supporting cast Mr. Post owes little. They are almost nothing more than foils for his acting. Only three ar- notable enough even to mention—Eiwy n Eaton a Brook, Chil- serving man; Alice John as Chil cote’s wife and Katherine Raymore as Robbins, a slavey.
