4 REPUBLICANS RENOUNCE PARTY Members of G. 0. P. Com mittees to Support Cox. NEW YORK, Oc.t 20—Frank H. Hutchins, a Republican and first vice president of the National Brotherhood of Operative Potters, has announced he will vote for Governor Cox. according; to a telegram received at Democratic na tional headquarters from Trenton, X. J. Mr. Hutchins, the message stated, re fused to act as a vice president at a Republican mass meeting Scheduled for Thursday night in Trenton, which was addressed by Governor John H. Bart lett of New Hampshire. In her letter to Jacob Livingston, chairman of the Republican executive committee of King’s County, resigning at a member of the Republican party, Ida Primoff DoTfmah, an attorney of 100 Rodney street, Brooklyn, a copy of which was sent to the Democratic national com mittee, said: “I am going to vote for Cox and Roosevelt because I believe tliey represent the better side of every question at issue in this campaign, and I believe a vote for Cox and Roosevelt is a vote to end war and for a progressive and liberal government; while a vote for Harding and Coolldge means a vote for reaction and obstructive government.” Senator Harding is denounced for his league stand by Charles S. Aronstam of 100 Broadway. New York City, former county chairman of the Progressive party, in his letter to Mr. Livingston, resigning from the Republican county committee and coming out for Cox and Roosevelt. Eugene C. Whittier of Boston, a life long Republican, sent National pcai ocratie Chairman George White a copy of his letter resigning as a member of the Republican town committee, and ;m ---nonneing his support of Cox and Roose velt. In his letter Mr. Whittier assailed Senator Harding for his repudiation of the League of Nations in his Des Moines speech and characterized the campaign methods of the Republican national com mittee as “an insult.” IS ARRESTED ON RETURN TO CITY Cass County Official Second Taken in Booze Scandal. Smith, it is said, gave the two officers a list of names from which he believed it would be possible to collect graft. Mayor James I. Barnes has been sum moned to testify before the grand jury today.
