WARNING TOTEMPERANCEVOTERS
The liquor people have had a high
priced man In the different legisla =
tive districts for the last fifteen months
to secure the nomination of mob favor
able to their traffic Some of the nom
inations have been so outrageous that
the decent people are up In arms
We suggest that In all Senatorial and
Legislative Districts the temperance
forces narrowly watch the character
of the nominees on both tickets The
election of the Legislature rests with
the people and not with a clique of
brewers and distillers
Tho latest move that has come to
our knowledge Is to secure as a speak
er of tho Lower House a man who
will let tho liquor people dictate the
makeup of the Committee on Public
Morals They think to defeat the will
of the electorate by this means
Whatever may be the outcome of
the election the Issue for November
2nd Is shall the majority of the 350
000 Christian temperance voters rule
or shall the whiskey ring This Is 1o
warn tho people of the State of the
mischief afoot Publicity is the best

Value of Rubles
RubleI
Rubles are more valuable than 4 U
monds and are practically Indestruc I
tibIa except by fire While a flawless
diamond of ono karat may be worth
roughly about J100 a perfect ruby of
tho same weight would be worth at
least 200 With Increase of size the
difference becomes much greater A
diamond of 16 karats Is worth per
haps 4000 while a ruby of that
weight would be worth any price up
to 70000 which was the value placed

One of the oldtime conductors on
