Beard Of Reviewers Makes
Report
tom ASSESSMENTS CHANGED
Drainage of Blizzard pond Is recom
mended by the board of reviewers
appointed by County Judge R T
Llghtfootv several weeks ago The
report of the rbvlowers is especially
favorable tothoi > dralnago of the pond
and Melb forth the advantage to the
county Some changes are made In
the estimate of tho benefit derived by
tome of the property owners and
some oC the property owners are fight
lag the drainage saying they favor
the improvement but claim they are
ovcrasscEged Juno 24 has been set
by Jridge Lightfoot aa the data for
bearing these objections
II I
The reviewers report that much of
the land was under water at the tlige
I tl3jeand
and they were unablo to examine all
of It Tho survey for tho last ditch
Is recommended as being practicable
and tho one that willdrain the pond
most effectively The last survey has
been fought strenuously by some
property owners who claim that the
first survey which drained Into tho
west fork of Clarks river was tho
better The last survey runs through
the middle of the pond and empties
Into the main channel of Clarks
riverAccording
According to the reviewers It will
till a groat benefit to the public health
for tho water to bo removed from
Blizzard pond aa well as tho general
welfare and benefit of the public
land To accomplish It the reviewer
say It wll bo necessary tQ construct
tile ditch
TIlQ ASKCSHHICnt
The revfcfceri Inspected the land
adjacent to the pond and made as
sessments according to the benefits
they thought would l > e derived by the
property owners should the pond be
drained The pond Is owned by the
Realty Development company In
tho report John O Martin is excused
from any assessment as they raid his
land I would not be benefited while tho
following were recommended to be
assessed lower than tho first report
Alfred Collier 5 6 Mrs W 0 Rue
sell ISO James Houscr 21 James
Houscr I37GO The assessment of
the Nashville Chattanooga St
Louis railroad Ii reduced from 600
to UIiJ whllo tho assessment of tbo
Illinois Central Railroad company Is
reduced from jO to 250
No changes were made In the as
sessments of Frank 00nd76 MiS
T c Carter 10 Arch Pool U2S
whllo Q cor go Moores assessment was
Increased to 3750 and George Houa
ers assessment to 35Go
The reviewer report that it will
bo Impossible for the Husbands road
to bo used as a public road in wet
weathCr unless a ditch Is cut or a
levee Is I constructed The levee tho
reviewers tcriort would havo to be a
mile In length l to be effective and tho
approximate cost would bo 1400 If
the levee Is constructed It will bo nec
essary for tho county to erect several
small bridges at crossings
Tho ditch Is recommended as tho
more economical It would cross tho
Oaks station road near Oaks station
and In order to accommodate tho
traffic tho construction of a brldgq
at an expense of about 250 would
bo necessary rho reviewers assess
countys benefits over and above all
cost and damage at 1150
It Ii recommended to the court that
the west end of tho ditch where it
t9uld cross the iHuibandu road bo
extended further west to tho Illinois
Central railroad a distance of about
500 yards The additional cost is es
