The council met last night in adjourned session, with Councilman Livingston absent. The matter ot compensating Drs. Dillon and Sanders, in regard to their inspections of I. C. and N., C. . St. L. trains, was brought up again, the two abovo claiming that the report of the Hoard of Health was incorrect. It wa referred hack to the Hoard ot Health for adjustment. Councilman Livingston brought up tho 'dispatch lathe Globe-Democrat from Spring Valley, III., in which it said l'aducah was in the bauds of a receiver. He said it might do incalculable harm, while iu itself tho telegram didn't amount to much. Mr. Livingston presented the follow. Ing resolution, which was iu pursuance of orders telegraphed to tho Globe-Democrat last night by City Clerk Cole: 'There opcara nn article or dispatch In the St. Louis of Nov. IU, 1807, dated Spring Valley, HI., on tho bottom of which it is stated that l'aducah, Ky., is the only city Iu tho United States iu tho hands of a receiver. Therefore be it "Resolved, by tho mayor and council, that ttuch article docs our city a great injustice and that there h uo truth in said dispatch, whatever, and that our city has for every dollar fcho owe $50, nnd wo ask the Globe-Democrat to correct the said article without further delav." Councilman Hell read a communication from tho East Tennessee Telephone Company, asking permission to make some changes in the location of tho poles. Tho request was grouted. Major Harncs said that inasmuch as tho present council Is soon to retire and a new administration is shortly to go In, nnd as the sewerage system now under course of construction will pass into new hands, and it was intimated somo of tho council-elect aro opposed to the sewerage on general principles, he do sired a day appointed for a thorough inspection of the system, and desired to invite tho mayor and council-elect, newspaper rcprcscnlativis, rnud all other good citizens to attend.
