No state in the union has been immune from visitations of this character, and as a matter of fact, Montana has never suffered anything in comparison with the states of Kansas, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Washington,, Okla homa, Texas, and other common wealths, It seems that at intervals all countries suffer from unexplaina ble climatic phenomena, and it is al together possible, as some students of the situation contend, that the Euro pean war has been a materially con tributing factor in producing the re sults our state is today encountering. Let the true explanation of the sit uation be what it may, there is no one really conversant with the won derful resources of Montana that can see any reason whatever for a display of pessimism as to the future. The wonderful and productive fertility of our soil has been thoroughly demon strated and established, our state has excelled all other areas in the volume of créais that may be grown upon an acre of ground, and no one can suc cessfully controvert the assertion that no territory in the union offers such amnifold advantages for the profit able propagation of the live stock in dustry- But eeva in the fabled days when Egypt was reputed to be an agricultural paradise, the people of old found themselves visited by oc casional iean years, and it would be nothing short of the miraculous should Montana be permitted to un interuptedly enjoy the splendid mea sure of prosperity which has so long accompanied all our indursrial oc cupations. Soon such clouds of adversity as may be seen on the horizon of this great state will have disappeared, conditions will have soon returned to their normal status, soon again will our state become the mecca of the home-seeker, the capitalist, and the investor, and soon will all though of the present year's inconveniences pass away into the realms of for getfulness. In the meantime, let us hope that the penny-a-liners who are so industriously engaged in magni fying the situation may desist from such mischievous course—there is no good purpose to be served by the a lannists filling the columns of the press with their croaking.s—Miles City American.
