NOTICE.
The city council of the city of Butt
Montana, hereby gives notice of the pass
age and approval of council resolution
No. 1428, declaring its intention to create
special Improvement district No. 238,
describing the boundaries thereof, stating
the general character of improvements
which are to be made and estimating the
approximate cost thereof.
For a description of the boundaries of
said special improvement district No.
238, reference is hereby made to said
council resolution No. 142S. now on file
in the office of the city clerk of the city
of Butte, Montann.
A description of the general character
of improvement« proposed to be made in
said special improvement district No. 238
is as follows: The construction of either
asphaltic concrete paving or hitulithio
paving or ereosoted wood block paving
or vitrified brick paving, to be deter
mined by later proceedings of the city
council after the bids or proposals there
for shall have been received, opened, ex
amined and declared, and prior to the
awarding of the contract for said paving
on Montana street within said special
improvement district; excepting that that
portion of Montana street within said
district in which car tracks have been
constructed or may be constructed shall
be paved between the rails of said ear
tracks and one foot on each side of said
rails and between all double tracks,
switches s^nd turnouts with granite
blocks, which said blocks shall be grout
ed In with cement and sand: the con
struction of concrete gutters on both
sides of Montana street within said
special Improvement district, and the
construction of a sewer for drainage pur
poses, In Montana 'reet within said dis
trict, together with catch-basins and
man-holes connecting with said sewer.
The total estimated cost of pavlnj said
street, within said district, If the type of
paving to be selected is asphaltic con
crete. is $60,089.05, which cost will ap
proximate $0.136 per square foot of as
sessable property within said district;
and the total estimated cost of paving
said street within said district, if the
type of paving to he selected is bitulithic,
is $68,455.88, which cost will approximate
$0.154 per square foot* of assessable prop
erty within said district; and the total
estimated cost of paving said street
within said district, if the type of paving
to be selected is ereosoted wood blocks,
Is $91,528.05, which cost will approximate
$0.206 per square foot or assessable prop
erty within said district; and the total
estimated cost of paving said street with
in said district, if the type of pas ng to
be selected is vitrified brick, is $107,754.63,
which cost will approximate $0.243 per
square foot of assessable property within
said district: and the total estimated
cost of paving said street within said
district, where car tracks have been con
structed, with granite blocks, as herein
before described, is $11.927.00. which said
cost is to be paid by the owners of said
tracks, the said cost approximating $3.32
per linear foot of said ear tracks, and the
total estimated cost of constructing said
gutters, as hereinbefore outlined and de
scribed, Is $3,510.50, which cost will ap
proximate $0.50 p- r linear foot of assess
able property within said district; ami
the total estimated cost of constructing
the sewer, man-holes and catch basins,
as hereinbefore outlined and described,
In Montana street within said district, is
$5,236.75, which cost will approximate
$0.0118 per square foot of assessable prop
erty within said district. The said costs
ami expenses of making said improve
ments are to be paid for by special im
provement district bonds, and for the
payment of said bonds special assess
ments are to he hereafter levied extend
ing over a period of ten years.
The city council of the city of Butte
will hear and pass upon all protests tTiut
may be made against the creation of said
special Improvement district No. 238, and
the making of said improvements, at the
council chamber in the city hall in the
city of Butte. Montana, on Wednesday,
the l$ih day of July, 1917, at the hour of
8 o'clock p. m.
At any time within fifteen days after
the date of the first publication of the
notice of the passage of the resolution
of intention, any owner of property liable
to be assessed for said work may make
written protest against the proposed
work or against the extent or creation of
the district to be assessed or both.
