Mitchell was one of Colbertson's most prominent citi-l ises. He came to Eastern Valley, county, Montana, about 5 yearsM ago and was for many years fore. man of the Star Cattle Company, t whicb was sold to the Dismond Company about ten years ago. He was born in Missouri in t.S6, and left home at an early age going to Texts and trailed up from there to this country with the Star outfit. Mr. Mitchell was a life long Dem ocrat and was twice elected as county commissioner for Valley county. He was a very public spirited man, with heart and purr's always open for the good of the community. He joined the Masonic Lodge at Glasgow many years ago, and when Trowel Lodge. No. 67, A. F. & A. M. was organized in Culbertson he became a charter member. After quitting the employ of the Star Cattle Company he took a I homestead and desert claim and became a prosperous and influen Itial farmer, being a pioneer in that line in this vicinity. He was known 1 all over the State of Montana and loved and respected by all. His Iname, Sterling was emblematic of his character, for his sterling qual ities were known to all. A couple of years ago he built one of the fin p est residences there are in Culbert son in which he installed his fami 1 ly, but he himself passed most of his time on his ranch. Mr. Mitchell leaves a wife and 1 our children. Maggie aged 17, SIlurl. tis, Willie i4 and Harry 7 years old, to mourn the loss of a fond husband and a losing father. ) He was an uncle of Stealing C.
