ley» the allied commercial clubs of the
country east and west and north and
south from Billings offered a prize
fc.r the selection of a name for that
territory.
B- G. Linebarger, now a candidate
for the republican nomination for
lieutenant governor won it, choosing
the name "Midland Empire." The
prize -w r as $25 and he gave it hack to
the organization for the publicity
fund.
Linebarger has moved over in the
northern part of the state now but
the name he selected still sticks.
