Besides the discovery that almost one-half of the daily supply consisted of watered milk, it has now been vealed that the cream consumed has been adulterated on a large scale with cocoanut oil. Health Commis sioner Louis I. Harris declares that this practice has been stopped be cause of the recent investigation, Harris estimates that at the peak of the cream consumption, about 250,000 quarts a day of sweet créa mand 50, 000 quarts of sour cream, between 50 and 75 per cent of the product receiv ed here was adultered with cocoanut oil selling for 8 to 10 cents a pound, as compared with butter fa, the chief component of cream, retailing at 45 cents a pound. un ro Evasion Scheme. Hol sclaw and Frank Bannister deputized by the Indian department, arrested Clara Michaels here Wednesday a charge of making and transporting intoxicating liquor. The officers had first visited the farm where Mrs. Michaels lives north of Oswego. No persons were at the home but three savage dogs barred the entrance of the officials. Rather than shoot the animals the officers summoned a farmhand from the field near-by who took charge of the dogs. Inside they found three 10 gallon jars of malted liquor. Leam ing that Mrs. Michaels was probably in Wolf Point they came here and arrested her just as she parked her car on the street.
