Phone 17 Plentywood SCOTT LEAVITT (From the Hariowton Times) In the councils of the republican party of Montana no man occupies a more influential position at the present time than Scott Leavitt. His advice is constantly sought and respected. Two years ago money was spent lavishly by the democratic party and a grand-stand speaking campaign put on to beat him. The word went out, "We must get Leavitt." Leavitt conducted a dignified cam paign, and alone. His candid presentation of facts and unostentatious demeanor, won him votes wherever he appeared, and he was returned to congress with a splendid vote of confidence. The most active years of his life he has spent in Mon tana. After a creditable foreign-service record in the American army during the Spanish-American war, he removed to this state and entered the forest service as supervisor at Great Falls* During the late war he was head of the federal employment administration for Montana. After six years as congressman for the second Montana district, he is recognized as one of the ablest members of the lower house. He has the reputation of getting through more legislation than any other con gressman- Unlike some members of the house he does not give his job a lick and a promise, but devotes his whole time to his official duties. His capacity for getting things done is prodigious, and his loyalty to his district proverbial. There seems to be no doubt of his re-election. 4 claim of Emil Petersen.
