Crosby, N. D., April 24.—Gains
had been recorded for the defend
ants in three election contests in

count of ballots cast in the gener
al election last fall was completed

for the office of state's attorney,

official newspaper, anil C. J. Clark
against C. F. Bissonette for the of

Differences were largely due to
the throwing out of absent voters
ballots which had not been stamped
by election officials before being de
posited in the ballot boxes. At the
outset of the hearing it was agreed
between the parties that unstamp
ed absent voters ballots would not
be counted.
The votes from about 35 pre
cincts remain, to be counted.

a visit with relatives. His brother
John Alley, met him Wednesday at
Glendive with the car and drove him
through. Tom wrestled Clarence Eck
lund, the Buffalo-Wyoming dry farm
er, at Sheridan, Wyo., Tuesday night,
throwing that famous wrestler.
Mr. Alley is leaving for Sheridan,
Wyo., this afternoon, where he will
wrestle Ecklun(L.again Sunday night.
Alley is in the pink of condition and
believes that he can-repeat his Tues
day's success.
He will also wrestle in Wenatchee |
Wash., on May 4th and at Tacoma,
May 7th.

Amongst the basements completed
in Plentywood this week was that of
Carl Peterson ul the C. C. Johnston
addition in the east part of the city.
Quite a lot of trouble was encoun-j
tered because of the ..caving of ..the
walls of the basement, but the task
was finally accomplished and it is
now ready for the modem bungalow
which will be erected thereon.
INCOME OF STATE
LANDS DEPARTMENT
INCREASES STEADILY
Helena, April 23.—Income of the
department of state lands during the
last four years has shown
an average
annual increase of 14 per cent, I. M.
Brandjord, commissioner of public
lands ar.d investments, said recently
in a financial statement of the depart
ment. Approximately 90 per cent of
the receipts are diverted to the state's
public school fund.
Mr Brandjord attributed the gains
to improved economic conditions. By
years, the receipts were: 1924, $850,
360; 1925, $1,038,624; 1926, $1,121,
130; 1927, $1,232,910; 1928, $1,340,
903. The 1928 income was 56 per cent
greater than that of 1924,
