Hall was in the city on business, today, from his ranch. H. C. Jensen was a brief busi ness caller in the city, today, from Beach. Mrs, Geo. W. J ames was a guest of friends in Glendive on Tuesday and Wednesday. Joe Dupont was in Wibaux on business, Tuesday, from his farm on the Yellowstone. A social dance was given in the hall on Friday evening, and all in attendance report a good time. Joe McFillin returned on Sun day evening from Chicago where he marketed three cars of cattle. Mr. and Mrs. Shotwell and Mr. and Mrs. Worden were visitors in the city, Wednesday, from their farms. Services next Sunday in the Con gregational church. Sunday School at 10 a. m., morning service at 11 o'clock and evening service at 7. 30. The little Misses Cecil and Eliz abeth Frank returned to their home in Glendive on Monday evening after a two month's visit here with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Proper. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Wells drove in from their ranch at Beaver, Tuesday, and Mrs. Wells departed on the same evening for Chicago, whe e she will spend the holidays with her pareuts. The advertising columns of a lo cal paper is the index of the active business of the place. The best way to be a booster is to advertise your business so that outsiders will know you are a live one. Job work at the Pioneer office a specialty. Don't forget it! E. H. Hall was in the city on business, Saturday, from Beaeh, Claude B. Moulton drove over from Beach in the auto on business, Tuesday. Andrew Mercer, of Sidney, was in the city on business, the first of the week. W. L. Straley was a business caller in the city, Tuesday, from his farm south of town. Strayed—a roan cow, branded HUS on back, had halter on. Please notify Straley Bros. Harry Vroman returned on Tues day morning to his former home in Wisconsin where he will spend the winter. Geo. Heald's family arrived on Tuesday evening from the east, and have taken up their residence at the Pickering. J. E. Davis returned on Thurs day evening from an extended vis it with friends nnd relatives at Chicago and St. Louis. H. M. Watson, of Princeton, Minn.y was in Wibaux on Tuesday and filed on a claim, which is locat ed in the vicinity of Carlyle. The P i o n e e r is in receipt of a very pretty calendar which was sent out, Complimentary of the First National Bank of Wibaux. Bills are this week being distri buted around town, announcing a grand masquerade ball which will be given by the I.O.O.F. in the hall here on New Year's Eve. A most cordial invitation is extended to oil. Mrs. Randall was a Dickinson visitor on Saturday. Messrs. Moulton were up from Beach on business, Friday. T. B. Proper was a business vis itor at Glendive on Saturday. Mrs. Wm. Schuett was visiting with relatives in Glendive several days this week. Commissioner Mullendore was in Gfendive on official business several days, this week. The Guild society held their reg ular meeting at the home of Mrs. Robt. Anderson last Thursday. A very enjoyable dance was giv en in the hall here last evening by the young folks a v jout town who report a pleasant time. Mr. and Mrs. Rrwin Lynk and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Douthit were in from the farms, south of town, on Friday evening to attend the ball. D. C. Farrell, formerly of Iowa, who resides on a farm north of Wibaux departed on Saturday evening for a brief business visit in Colorado. Prof. F. P. Baird has been con fined to his bed for the past few days with a severe attack of the grippe, but at this writing he is slowly improving. Dr. Charest of Fargo, N. D., specialist in nervous diseases and chronic ailments, will visit pro fessionally Beach, at Hotel Bor der Line, Thursday, Dec. 31—See him about your aihments. Monitor: Chas. A. House was a caller from his ranch at Trotters Wednesday. Ab Owings was a brief business caller from the ranch on Wednes day, C. H. Hall, of Carlyle, was a business visitoir in Wibaux last week. Mr. and Mrs. A. G.^Parsons were guests of friends in Glendive the first of the week. W. H. Terrell is spending a few days in town this week from the ranch at Trotters. B. J. Parsons is a business vis itor in the city, today, from his ranch on Cottonwood R. P. Rainey, of Black River Falls, Wise., was in Wibaux on business last Saturday. Messrs. E. W. and James Ooru forth were in from their farm, south of towp, on Wednesday* Mr. nnd Mrs. J. A. Miller were visitors- in the city, Thursday, from the ranch on Smith creek. R. F. Smith returned the first of the week from Glendive where he has been working in the county treasurer's office for the past month. Mr. Grossfield arrived in the city the first of the week with a ten-car shipment of sheep, which were trail ed through from Big Timber during the summer, and he shipped them to Chicago on Moi\dav night. Political campaigns are expen sive necessities. The figures, as given by the members of national committees of the two leading par ties, are: Republican, $1,579,587.27 Democratic, $620,644.77. This makes a total sum of $2. 200,525.04 ns the cost of the recent national campaign. Mrs. J. L. Collins is reported ill this week. C. H. Chase was in from his farm on business, Tuesday, Frank Keene was in from the ranch on business, Saturday. M. D. Cook transacted business in town, Tuesday, from the ranch, J. C. Kinney transacted business at Glendive on Tuesday and Wed nesday. Veterinarian Butler was a busi ness visitor in the city Tuesday, from Glendive. John Klanders is making many improvements on the interior of his residence on the farm, this week. Aha! Wonder why? A. H. Glimm returned the first of the week from a gunning trip in the vicinity of Cedar. We under stand he was successful in killing an antelope and two deer. Messrs. E. K. McConnell and R. F. Forsythe departed on Wed nesday evening for iheir former home at Des Moines, Iowa, when* they expect to spend the holidays. Thos. Rush finished threshing on his farm south of town' on Satur day. Mr. Rush informed us that his oats averaged between 35 and 40 bushels per acre and his wheat averaged between 15and 19 bushels. £oe Schuster arrived in the city on Monday evening with a party of land buyers.
