NEW YOKE Jan 10A female spiritual
ist is making things very uncomfortable
for Andrew W Smith aHiandsome but
very young Wall street stockbroker
Smith is quite boyish looking although a
capable business man and ever since the
great blizzard Miss Connolly bas wanted
him for a husband The thing used to boa
joke that is for Smiths friends but the
young fellow feels desperate about the
situation now He swore out a warrant
for Miss Connollys arrest today ana quite
a number of prominent Wall street men
went with him to the Toombs to see the fun
The woman looked old enough to be his
mother and Smith vehemently declared
that she was out of her mind He said that
he first saw her the day following the bliz
zard when she entered his office and asked
him before a number of friends Do you
want a nurse His friends laughed vo
ciferously whereat the woman said that if
he was not in need of a nurse he might
take her for a wife For she added as
she opened her arms I love you Come
to me
She said that her sisterinlaw who was
dead had come to her bedside the night be
fore and told her that she must marry
Smith Smith the broker was anxious to
know why he should be selected and the
answer that he received was tbac Smith
was a resident of Ballston N Y and that
was her birthplace She was persuaded to
leave the office and warned that if she
called again she would be arrested She I
then annoyed him witk letters which
breathed great affection for him She
called several times and he had her ejected
She called again yesterday Two detec
tives of Inspector Byrnes force took Her
in charge to the Tombs The justice was
puzzled what to do for the
m man was not insane in his opinion
Miss Connolly explained to him that she
regarded her pursuit of Smith was a mat
ter of faith She had received a message
from spiritland which she was a matter of
faith She had received a message from
spiritland which she needs must obey
The justice remarked dryly that he had no
desire to interfere with her religious be
liefj but Smith must be left alone Mr
Smith is not overpleased with either the
conclusions or decision of the court es
pecially that portion of it which pro
nounced his spirit loveelect perfectly sane
He declares that unless he is afforded some
substantial protection he will be insane
