The General Conference to bo Held In Salt
Lake in June Next
At a meeting of the officers of the Y M M I
A held in the presidents office Salt Lake city
April 7 at 2 pm it was decided to hold the
third annual conference of the Young Hens
Improvement associations on June 1 1S90
Representatives were present from Salt Lake
Weber Utah Cache Box Elder Morgan
Emery Pangultch Summit San Juan and

Assistant General Superintendent J F
Wells stated the object of toe meeting and the
nature of the conference programme was dis
cussed by officers present
President Moses Thatcher gave some encour
aging suggestions in relation to the importance
and permanency of the Young Hens associa
tion Ho encouraged the officers to diligent
labor and enthusiastic zeal in the great work
After a general outline of the proceedings
desired for conference had been suggested
a committee on arrangements was selected to
perfect the plan It is composed of Junlus F
Wells as chairman with the general supcrin
tendency the secretary and the treasurer and
the musical director of the general organization
added
A committee on programme as follows was
also chosen M H Hardy chairman George
H Brimhall E H Anderson L R Martineau
and Joseph H Felt
T he superintendency of tIle Salt Lake stake
were selected a committee on reception and en
tertalnment
It is designed to have a profitable conference
at which valuable instructions concerning mu
tual t improvement will be imparted to the offi
cers and in which the general public will find
exercises of interest and benefit
Onicers are instructed to work up an interest
in the conference so that a very large represen
tation may bo in attendance
EASTER SERVICES
The Various Churches and the Young liens
Christian Association Observe the Day
Special Easter services were held at all the
churches on Sunday
Tho congregation at St Marks cathedral in
tho morning completely tilled the edifice which
ten s beautifully decorated with calla lillies
and other cut flowers Hector Putnam
preached an eloquent Easter sermon which
waslistcned to with close attention The grand
mu sic which has always characterized this
se rvice at St Marks was missed on Sunday A
choir of boys rendered some selections fairly
well and Dr Hall sang a solo Mrs Hamilton
played as an opening voluntary two selections
from Mendelsohns sonatas which was much
enjoyed
At the First Presbyterian church Dr Mc
Ni eco preached to a largo congregation
The Congregational church was crowded to
th e doors and the pastor Rev J B Thrall
preached a short but interesting sermon In the
morning the Sunday school gave an Easter con
cert at the church
Rev D Forward spoke In the morning at the
Baptist church
Kev G E Jayne preached at the Methodist
church in the morning and a Sunday school
mission concert was given in the evening
The Young Mens Christian association held
an interesting meeting in the Federal court
room in the afternoon Rev J B Thrall made
a brief address lifter which testimonies were
offered
