SENDING OUT THE GUNS
Geteral Brooke Wires For the Hotchklss
Gnns at the Fort
A wire from General Brooke received
Into in the afternoon of the 8th ordered
the HotchkisB guns at this post to be sent
him at once and in case the command
moves to bring the Catlings along
It Is now very evident that General Miles
will not spend time in powwowing with I
the noble reds but will bring them to time
if it takes the whole army to do it What I
itrikesmore terror in the Indian than an
other war missile is a bombshell and a few
of these from the mortars and field pieces
will undoubtedly teach the wouldbe war
riors among the Sioux the utter futility of
holding out against the troops It was
artillery that put the tinishingtouch on the
Modoc war in 1872 and that same arm of
the service may yet have that same to do
in the Band Land country
The boys are having the Gatling gun
4 drill so as to be efficient in caseof war with
the Sioux
When the message ordering the Hotch
kiss guns sent to Cheyenne was received at
the post quite a few commenced placing
even bets that the command would move in
fortyeight hours The fortyeight hours
will expire retreat on tie 10th instant
0 and I am of opinion we shall still be here
then I lost tw bits worth of cigars on
the question of our leaving when he order

A NOTE VQ11THY EXCEPTION
From the Kimball S D Graphic
While the columns of the Graptlc are
open to any and all unobjectionable adver
tisements yet it is < quite impossible for us
to speak knowingly of the merits of the
various articles of merchandise advertised
Particularly is this true of patent medi

and a noteworthy exception is the cele
brated Chamberlains Cough Remedy
This now universally known medicine
has been advertised in the Graphic for
four or five years but not until recently
had we any personal knowledge of its won
derful efficacy which has come about
through the prevailing influenza and the
stubborn cough thai has so often attended
it In the ritcrH family this medicine
has on several occasions this winter cured
a cough that baffled any and all other
remedies and the cumber of families in

has been used with like effects attests to
its value us a specific for coughs and colds
