A complete adjudication of the water I
rights In Little Cottonwood canyon Is
contained In a decree filed In the count
clerks office yesterday by Judge C W
Morse The suit was filed on July 23
1902 Disputes had lasted thirty years
or more The Union East Jordon Ir
rigation company filed the suit against
the Richards Irrigation company and
naming about 100 others as defendants
I It was a friendly suit similar to that
of the city In Parleys canyon still In
the hands of JUdge Morse to determine
for all time ownership of water
I Evidence was taken in this case from
Jan H 1907 until Sept 24 of the same
year Judge Morse In the decree adju
dlcates only the water rights among the
varIous ditches and Irrigation companies
Seven companies acquired primary water
I rights between the years of ISIS and 1856
to 9171 second feet of the flow of Little i
Cottonwood and the following appor
tlonment Is made of the primary rights I

cial phase of the liquor question the sci

the Commercial club will occupy Its
new home about March 1 of the coming

The buildIng contractorI are hasten

state that they expect to be able to
turn the building over to the club about
January 15 It will require about six
week for the Interior decorations and
placing the furniture and fixtures

I furnishing of the building which will
involve an expenditure of close to 50
000 has been busily engaged In the
I work of selecting the furnishings and
deciding upon the matter of tho In

she believed hI went away with another
woman Mrs Cross works for the Paris I

Morse just when It was that he camp
back from Butte Pete married Augusta

he was in Butte on a visit He told Ins I

Salt Lake the next month or two and i

her he returned So the case was put off
for a week until It can be determined
just when he got back
Mr Pauline Baker appearing In a 1

Judge Morse she was penniless that
there was no coal In the house and that j
she was afraid her husband A A Baker
was about to draw his wages from the
Rio Grande railroad He Is a freight con
ductor Judge Morse made an order that
out of thc last months earnings Baker
pay his wife 60 and ID to her attorney
the 60 to be the regular monthly allow
ance during the rcndenc of the suit for
divorce Th judgment was made a lien
upon Bakers wages for the month

Taft today visited Iiddletown and Hart
ford attending In the former city this
morning the installation of Dr William
D Shanklin as president of Wesleyan
university and participating In this city
tonight In the dedication of the magnii
cent new state arsenal and armory The
President left at 1040 p m for Washing
ton As part of the Installation exercises at
Wesleyan university degrees of doctor of
laws were conferred upon President raft
Vice President Sherman Senator Root
and others The President In his address
to students and representatives of more
than eight colleges and universities
congratulated the university upon having
selected a teacher as Its president He
deplored the Idea eo often advanced that
a university needs a business man at Its
head a man who knows the value of a
dollar and how to get It and declared
that the limitations of a business man
